Hi there,

I want to discuss which 3D asset store is much better! Could you please share what you recommend? I'm looking for the store which have a lots interior 3D models for living, bathroom and bedroom. And, rather than free 3D models, I need high quality and surely licensed paid data. I know Poliigon is one of them, and I've already been using it. Below is my options,

https://www.poliigon.com/
https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-models
https://dimensiva.com/
https://stock.adobe.com/3d-assets
https://grabcad.com/

Also, I'd like to know the compatibility between Keyshot and each published data.

Thank you,

Hello Rosuke

I also use cgtrader and poliigon - I can also recommend modelplusmodel https://www.modelplusmodel.com/

best wishes

Thank you for replies! Looks useful too!

By the way, while Blender, 3DSMAX and some other popular software formats are directly published, I've seen few Kesyhot format yet. I'm feeling a bit stress to apply each texture data on Keyshot, which is additional unnecessary workflow actually, isn't it? I strongly hope Keyshot format will become popular one!

I've never seen any .bsp or .ksp files on any of those sites - I always tend to use FBX where available and it's usually not too hard to relink textures where they are provided.

It is Extremely rare to buy an asset without me having to fix something. I use CGTrader often. If you find what you need on TurboSquid, you can usually find the exact same model there.

If you don't want to search all the stores, I found a really cool site:
https://3dmdb.com/
it's not pretty, but it works. It searches all the stores you would want at the same time. It doesn't let you search by format like some of the others. But those aren't all that useful on those sites either because they show you "conversion" formats. And often times "FBX" is some crazy old format that isn't compatible with some software anymore.

It would be awesome if there were some sites out there that showed "keyshot ready" where they also showed you the material breakout in keyshot. Like, Yes, you can import that FBX into keyshot. But if it's using multiple UV maps, and in their software they are creating all their materials based on mask maps through those, then the model is Technically keyshot compatible, but you can only assign materials to it using one UV map. So you'd have to manually split up surfaces. Keyshot can do that, but it can be a lot more work to do in Keyshot.
So buyer beware.

There is also sketchfab.com. They have lots of free assets as well, but the free assets Usually need some cleanup.
And even when you purchase things, it's not super common for them to have been modelled to scale for some reason.

Thank you guys!
I'm glad to hear that everyone not only me is spending a bit time to connect each texture data on Keyshot. But, it's OK, I know we can easily make it due to well unwrapped UV map embedded in FBX data.

It's not just connecting things to an fbx file. You May have to split the fbx file up into separate parts. Often times a model is intended to be a game asset, so is all one object. If an object has connected vertices and requires the use of multiple maps, one efficient way to do that is to uv map them to different channels. This allows you to keep the texture size smaller, but keyshot doesn't accept multiple UV maps, as far as I am aware....yet?
It would be really nice if it did, but it's really odd method of UV mapping has it's own uses as well.

But if multiple texture maps are needed within objects that require UV mapping to different channels, you have to split those up prior to sending them to keyshot.
In some, more rare cases, they just plain won't be compatible because sometimes they'll use one UV map for a graphic, and another UV map in atlas style for something like bump maps. In that case you've got more work to do because you'll have to split the objects and then transfer the map to the other UVs. I'm not actually sure how to do that off the top of my head, but I'm sure there are some methods for it.
Hopefully multiple UV maps is higher on the list, after fixing all the initial bugs in KS10, than some other things. It would be really nice.

Hi,

Kindly check the link. You will get the list of websites offering free 3D modeling and textures
https://www.proglobalbusinesssolutions.com/free-3d-models/

I'm not sure I would consider any list extensive when they aren't presented as a list, only mention 2-3 of the items, then say "Etc."
The etcetera is what people here are looking for.
