Hi there!

While experimenting with refraction and liquids I wasn't able to get any colour from underwater objects.
The attached image illustrates this problem.
I've tried a couple of things to make this work but none of them would give me a better result.

I tried:

  • making a hole in the water where the straw goes with a bit (0.05mm) of 'play' in between
  • the same as above but without 'play'
  • no hole at all, just two intersecting objects
  • raybounces up to 32
  • and probably some more stuff

We're using keyshot 3 with pro-e wildfire 5
Anyone any idea on how to get this right?

Thanks in advance!
Kind regards,

Boris

In addition to turning up the ray bounces (32 seems way too high), have you checked the Global Illumination" box?

If you send me your bip I'll fix what you want and send it back. Then you can reverse engineer it.
Just something to think about.
Let me know.

global illumination checked will do the trick. And then you may be good with 12 ray bounces.

Thanks guys for the quick responses!
Global illumination did the trick...

Stupid of me not to think of that before!

Cheers!

Ah...you must be using gem material. That is one of my favorite materials to use. You have a lot of flexibility with it.
My door is always open if you need anything.

So let's see the finished product!  Love to see how it looks now!
