How to fake water animation

This is a tip on how I made the water animation in Newton's Cradle. I hope it will be useful for you.

1- Create a plane with a geometry surface of the water as you see it in the animation (a real water surface).
2- Make the surface big enough so you can animate its position in the Y and Z axis with a little bit of Y rotation.
3- let the surface fit the area where you want the water to be seen.
4- Use a proper nice environment (reflection helps a lot for a realistic look)

Very nice! That's a great effect, I was wondering how it was done :)

Now it makes sense that you created the water geometry (instead of using the procedural bump), because I can see the waves having an effect on the edge of the pool instead of being flat. Thank you for sharing!!!
